Easy DIY Project, buy a spare!
This is one of those projects that takes an hour the first time, but is a snap from then on. I have done it about 5 times and have it down to about 10 minutes. You may have to cut off an existing plastic connector and use the included high-temperature wire nuts.
Our oven sees daily use and we have to replace this part every 12-18 months. I keep a spare on hand because it is, by far, the weak link in the design. If anything goes wrong with the oven, failure to light, smelling gas at startup, I change out this part first. Note, just because it is glowing does not mean it is working. The gas valve will only open if the element draws a very specific amount of electrical current, and the element can be slightly high or low and the valve will not open, even though it seems to be glowing properly.
Oven ignitor
I was completely stoked about the price on this oven ignitor. It only cost $12.99. Sears wanted $80.00 ,Coast Appliance store wanted $65.00. In this economy every penny I can save is important. Not what I ordered
I bought this item based on what was shown in the picture. It did fit our stove and does work but the item I received wasn't the one in the picture. The sellers picture shows a thick "m" shaped foam or whatever it is in the middle. the one I received was a lot thinner and more spaced out. The seller did not sell the one he advertises in the picture. The one I received looks a lot chinsier than the one in the photo. I was really disappointed in this purchase. The invoice that I received with this item says I can only return it for replacement or credit. I could not receive my money back. That's not fair when you offer something different than what you send. Steer clear of this seller because if you order something, that can send you whatever quality they want and only offer store credit if your complain it's not the item you order. Beware of this seller.
