Ronco Showtime Rotisserie, 5500 Series

Great rotisserie and beautiful design!
I remember my mom cooking with a Ronco rotisserie when I was growing up. I'd come home from school and smell this amazing smell of rotisserie chicken cooking. It was incredible. When I ran across this, I thought "WOW...they've brought Ronco into the 21st century". I couldn't resist. When I received the rotisserie, it was nicely packaged and easy to set up with the included instructions. I had already bought a couple of chickens in anticipation and I was ready to go. This rotisserie lives up to the hype and it looks great in my kitchen too. My chicken was the talk of the night. This kids and my husband LOVED IT! Every kitchen should have one of these.

Mixed Bag
About 10 years ago, my mother bought one of these for me for Christmas, and one for herself. I loved mine! It was the model with the digital timer. This unit has a dial. Fail! If this is supposed to be top of the line, that rinky dink little dial isn't going to cut it. It's just not the same! Anyway, my mother used hers twice, and on the third try, the chicken fell. It seemed that the sides of the oven were bowing out in the center, so the spit wouldn't stay in. And Ronco wouldn't budge, because it was 7 months old. It went in the trash. I used mine faithfully for ten years, until an unfortunate moving accident (read: 3 flights of stairs, thud, thud, thud) rendered it useless. I looked at replacing it but didn't want to spend the money on it. I saw one on one of the home shopping channels that came with all of the accessories, free shipping, and it was half of the price from Ronco direct, so how could I resist? The cons: For me, it is a con, that this version is taller...

Awsome and easy
I was very skeptical about purchasing this item, but a coworker that ownes one talked me into it. After using it twice now I am very pleased with it's performance. The first time that I cooked a chicken I only seasoned it with salt and pepper to see what it could do. I had a small learning curve, that was a little frustrating, on how to propperly skewer the chicken to keep it from flopping around (my bad. should have watched the DVD and read the instructions) Once I figured out how to skewer and tie it properly, my 6 lb chicken came out perfect in an hour and a half. Crispy skin, and a juicy fully cooked bird. FYI - I am guessing that the picture that shows two chickens cooking is either two really small chickens or game hens, so keep this in mind before you order. I really like the ties that came with it and have placed an order from Amazon for a bag of 50 for $9.99, so if you plan on using it often I would suggest that you go ahead and add them to your order. My coworker told me...
