A pretty good yogurt maker for a very decent price!
My family eats a LOT of yogurt. My kids love it, and I enjoy it as well. As such, it gets pretty expensive loading up on all those single serving containers of yogurt at the store - not to mention wasteful and potentially unhealthy with all the added sugars. I have a yogurt maker at home, but it only makes one huge batch, and since I tend to have slightly finicky kids, the flavor one is thrilled about is guaranteed to NOT be the flavor the other one wants. So I have been eyeballing a yogurt maker with individual *glass* containers for a while and thought I would try this one out.
I followed the instructions for the Fruit-on-the-Bottom yogurt, using the Sweetened Plain. With this maker, you DO still have to heat the milk and then let it cool before doing anything else - it *does not* heat it for you. Once the milk has cooled to the right temperature, I added some local honey and a room temperature container of plain Greek yogurt. Then I had some fun and did a little bit of...
Yogurt maker with timer is great.
I searched for a few days online and read a lot of reviews before purchasing the T-fal yogurt maker. The timer was a big selling point for me and I like the appearance. It had a lot of good reviews. The only thing I would change is the amount of yogurt start they recomend in the recipe. I have made yogurt for 31 years. I wore out two Salton yogurt makers. I followed the recipe included with the yogurt maker and my first three batches in this one turned out grainey. (They suggest 6 oz of yogurt for a starter). I went back to using 2 tablespoons like I have done for many years and the yogurt was perfect. I need to order extra jars because my family eats it up so fast.
Wow!
Love this yogurt maker. The glass bottles are fantastic. I wasn't able to use the recipe in the book because our family is lactose and soy intolerant, but I found wonderful recipes online. Aside from that, this yogurt maker is amazing. So easy to use. Just prepare the yogurt recipe, fill the jars, turn on the power, set the timer and relax. I usually cook my yogurt throughout the day and put it in the fridge overnight to enjoy the next morning. BEST Coconut milk yogurt EVER! I am not kidding. I LOVE this thing.
